It’s 10.05pm on Tuesday, 1st April 2014 and we’ve just finished watching the final episode of How I Met Your Mother. Seriously, the ending was so sad that even a macho guy like me (wait for it…. blueekkkkk) had tears.
Me and Belacan Girl have different views on the ending though. I like that Ted met the girl that matches him (they’re so similar it’s scary!). However, I totally did not expect the Mother to die from sickness, and in the later years, Ted ends up with Robin again. The entire nine seasons was all about the love story of Ted and Robin. Even though there are intermissions like the Barney/Robin marriage and divorce(major spoiler oops!) and Ted/Tracy (yes, that’s the Mother’s name) union and birth of their kids.
I’m going to miss HIMYM. This is the last of the great sitcoms which feature close friendships and how close friends can be weird around each other without being judgmental. HIMYM is very much the old sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S, but it’s more adult and I’m sure most of us in our 30s can relate to their lives in one way or another.
It’s tough to say goodbye. Thank you HIMYM for filling up our lives for the past 9 years.
It’s time for a HIMYM marathon.
(Yes Dad. We’ve been listening to you for 9 seasons!)
(Yes, you’re going to listen to me for 9 seasons dammit!)
(The Blue French Horn. Guess who’s it for?)
