What made me decide to blog?

I’ve been wanting to blog for months now, but I always got sidetracked by something else. “By something” here actually means candy crush, fashion story, bakery story and so many other stories. (I’m a game junkie btw!)

Last week, my husband lost his iPhone and instead of quickly getting his new phone replacement, my husband decided to go back to his “LEGEN…wait for it…DARY”  Nokia N70. Why? It is pretty much due to delayed gratification for the iPhone 5s or 6 coming up soon. (I don’t think it’s going to be that soon, but I’m done arguing with him on this. He insists that waiting is going to be worth it!)

So, no smart phone means hubs has more time to spend with me! (He was pretty much glued to his phone. Always, always had his phone in his hands for office email checking, office whatsapp group, reading or music then). In order to support him I decided to delete my Twitter, Facebook and Candy Crush app from both my iPhone and iPad. The outcome of it, suddenly we have so much time to spend together and time suddenly moves so slowly! Amazing isn’t it?!

I’ve always love uploading photos and updating status on Facebook, not to show off (okay, okay, sometimes I like to show off or provoking others 😛 ) but more of to keep things documented. It is just like your diary entry, I have posts on my MBA graduation, my outing with families, when and where I bought something, what did I ordered at a particular restaurant and so many other memories that is impossible for me to remember them all. Believe it or not, there was even a time when my mom asked me whether I can recall the date for a particular event and I said “Hang on, I need to check my Facebook!”  And that tiny little information was actually used in court.

There was also time when sister in law borrowed our camera, due to lack of memory hubs transferred the whole pictures to his desktop without having it back-up so that sister in law could use the camera. The desktop went kaput, and we lost the whole pictures from our down under trip. Sad 😦

We are lucky today, thanks to social media like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter we can instantly uploaded our pictures and have it safely stored. (Okay let’s not discuss on the cons here, shall we? ;))

Nonetheless, of late especially pre and post 13th general election Facebook has become such a negative place. I really hate going through Facebook, where people actually revealed their true behaviours. The pointing fingers, the harsh words, the “I am holier than thou attitude”, the annoying comments, the unwanted remarks and the friends who are just friends to stalk you.

And last but not least, I myself tend to post things that are totally regrettable. Hence, because of these reasons I decided to minimize my activity on Facebook as much as much as I can and finally start taking action by writing my first blog entry.

I get less annoyed, I hurt lesser people,  I get to focus on things I want to do, I still get to keep things documented and most importantly I get to spend more quality time with my husband. I guess hubs losing his phone is a blessing in disguise after all. I am certainly a much happier girl now and much at peace 🙂  Yay! Image
