Tagging Along (Part 1)

Happy New Year peeps! (I know it’s mid-February already) Hope all is well. We are doing just fine, but a little exhausted. To those who followed us on Instagram would have probably known that the past few weeks I’ve been tagging along with CheeseBoy for his business trips. Within period of 3 weeks we have travelled to Johor Bahru, Singapore, Penang and Kuching. Thankfully CheeseBoy cancelled his Terengganu trip, or else we will ended travelling to 4 different states in 3 weeks time! Albeit, I hardly spent time with CheeseBoy during these trips (oh well, it was business trip, can’t be expecting him spending the whole day touring the city with me) at least it allows us to have some quality time together and I get to meet his team members and understand his job better. Another reason I agreed to the tag-along plan (because I hardly do) was because it was also same time we went through our fertility treatment. Being slightly emotional I think it’s best for me to be closer to CheeseBoy 😛

The first leg of our trip was Johor Bahru. I hardly feel lonely here because I have my cousins to keep me company. We arrived Johor Bahru way, way later than expected. Therefore, instead of checking in to the hotel, we decided to have a pit stop at Senibong for late dinner.

Yummy! The asam pedas was really good that we decided to skip asam pedas botak for this trip.

jb-002

It was 4am and he was still working. Only managed to keep him company for additional 10 minutes before I finally dozed off.

The next night we went for dinner with CheeseBoy’s cousins and their family. It was another round of seafood peeps. We were like “Hello Sinus!”

jb-003

jb-004The next day I went out with my cousins. First we went for Asam Pedas session, followed by cafe hopping.

Group Photo!

The asam pedas placed is called “Gerai 17, Asam Pedas Power” @ Jalan Mohd Amin, JB. Besides asam pedas they can also prepare masak lemak cili padi and salted egg dishes. You also get to choose your own seafood. Food was lovely. Unfortunately, it was raining and we had to rush our meal, so tak sempat to take pictures of the yummy food!

We went to 2 cafes, but my favourite was “Flowers in the Window”. Absolutely love the ambience of the cafe. Just check out their Christmas deco!

jb-008

The food and drinks are good too!

jb006

jb-007 I also decided to sneak into Singapore for a short day trip on the third day of the trip. Bad idea taking the bus (it was rainy season) and it’s the final weekend before Christmas. The crowd at Orchard Road was simply madness!

jb010

First thing first, Fluff Bakery. Their cupcakes are simply the best!

jb009

Quick lunch at Hajjah Maimunah. As usual!

jb011

And of course, the must have ice cream roti. Yummy!

jb013

What used to be Bakerzin cafe is now Paul. Not a bad alternative at all 😛

jb012

Managed to get some shopping done for CheeseBoy. Yippie!

Despite reaching the hotel very late, I still managed to squeeze in breakfast date with our cousins at Onn’s Kitchen the next day.  It’s definitely our current favourite breakfast spot in JB now.

jb014

Love the lontong kering served at Onn Kitchen. But in my humble opinion their star product is their roti canai. So soft and fluffy and not oily! They also served soto, lontong basah, nasi lemak, and other traditional kuih melayu such as lopis and karipap.

Despite being stuffed with all the good food, I decided to be crazier and by making our move straight to a place recommended by our cousin called “Kedai Makan Rahmat” which located in Pasir Gudang and their specialty is Siakap Goreng (deep fried sea bass).

jb019

The sea bass was cooked to the perfection. Crispy on the outside and so juicy on the inside. Heaven!

jb017

The kicap dip makes a perfect combo!

jb020

The damage done to the wallet was acceptable 😀

jb021

jb022

A quick ootd for me before I headed back to hotel for a nap 😛

Of course the feast didn’t end there. Later in the evening I went for dinner with my good friend  W who were coincidently also in JB with her family for their usual Legoland trip. They took us to a seafood placed called “Restoren Asli Makanan Laut Mutiara Biru”

jb023jb025

The food was superb peeps! Definitely another must go place!

jb026

Another “surprise” birthday celebration from my favourite kids in the whole world

jb027

Yeah, I fed them sugar!

Oh wow, this is really a long post. Just a little longer, I promise! 🙂

Due to the sugar, we only managed to catch up with their parents after the kids went to bed. Had a chat until midnight, can’t go any longer than that since we’ll be driving home the next day and we needed all the sleep that we can get. And as expected, we overslept the next day, when we went to the lobby the place was totally packed because guests were checking out at the same time. Decided to skip hotel breakfast and pack home. But of course before headed home, we had a pitstop at Plaza Angsana for our routine of Mee Rebus Haji Wahid.

Thank you to all family and friends who kept me company while CheeseBoy work. It was definitely a fun trip for me!

Next is Penang!
